What are peptides? A plain-English guide
Peptides are short chains of amino acids. Your body makes thousands of them, and dozens are approved drugs. Here is what they are, what they do and how to judge claims about them.
How we check every page
Peptide claims spread fast online. Most come from animal studies or from sellers. We separate what studies in people show from what studies in mice show, and we say so on every page.
- A writer drafts the page from primary sources: PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov and FDA records.
- We rate the strongest evidence on a five-step scale, from lab studies to FDA approval.
- We check every fact against the original study or FDA record before we publish.
- We recheck each page on a schedule and show the date we last checked it.
